I’ve heard it’s normal to be relieved
When you find who you’re looking for in a crowd
They say it’s comfort and relief- I’ve never felt

To be lost in a crowd
A crowd of perfect strangers
Where nobody knows my name, my face, my games
A jumble of people, clothing, hand holding
Sweat and fears and hope and years and life

I’ve heard people like familiarity
So they spend their time with friends and family
They say it’s full of certainty- but I know that

In a crowd of strangers are possibilities
In her gray eyes hides a story

What place does he call home-
I’ll never know if it’s Montreal or Rome

You just smile as you pass

Somewhere there’s a jumble of people
